What is Intuitive Movement and How Can It Transform Your Relationship with Exercise?

Updated: Oct 4

For many of us, exercise has been tied to external goals: seeing the numbers on the scales drop, toning up, or dropping a dress size (or two). But what if movement didn’t have to be about results? What if it was simply about joy, connection, and community? That’s where intuitive movement comes in—a powerful practice about moving in a way that feels good and aligns with your body’s needs in the moment.

What is Intuitive Movement?

Intuitive movement is about tuning in to your body and asking it what it needs, rather than following strict workout plans or forcing yourself into a rigid routine. It’s a way of breaking free from the mindset that exercise is punishment or something you have to do. Instead, it’s about learning to move with compassion, finding joy in physical activity, and honouring what your body feels like doing each day—whether that’s a quiet swim, a long hike, or simply resting.

Here’s the magic of intuitive movement: there are no rules. It’s entirely about your personal experience and what feels right for you at any given moment.

Why We Created the Embrace the Flow Workshop

Once motivated by guilt and goals, I’ve been on my own journey with exercise. There was a time when movement felt like something I had to endure to meet a specific size or weight. But after working with a coach, I realised that exercise can be an act of self-love, not self-punishment. That’s when I embraced intuitive movement, and it changed everything.

Now, I help others heal their relationship with movement so they can experience the same freedom I found. My friend and fellow coach, Eric Pothen, and I created Embrace the Flow, a FREE intuitive movement workshop designed to help you reconnect with your body, move with joy, and release the pressures of traditional exercise goals.

Eric brings a mindful, compassionate energy to the workshop. His background in integrative wellness and eating disorder recovery has inspired much of it. Together, we’ve crafted this workshop for people like you—whether you’re navigating eating disorder recovery, feeling disconnected from your body, or even if you’ve been sedentary for a while and don’t know where to begin.

How Intuitive Movement Can Change Your Life

  1. Move without Guilt:

Intuitive movement helps you break free from the pressure of exercising to meet a goal or burn calories. Instead, it’s about finding movement that feels good and makes you happy.

  2. Deepen Your Mind-Body Connection:

You’ll learn to listen to your body’s signals through intuitive movement—whether it’s telling you to move, rest, or try something new. This deep connection will help you embody self-trust and self-love.

  3. Make Peace with Rest Days:

One of the most liberating parts of intuitive movement is embracing the fact that rest is a crucial part of the process. If you don’t have a good relationship with rest days, you’ll never have a good relationship with exercise. Rest days will become part of your self-care, not something to feel guilty about.

  4. Feel Confident at Any Stage:

Whether you’re experienced in movement or just starting out, intuitive movement meets you where you are. It’s perfect for those who feel intimidated by traditional workouts or those in recovery from disordered eating, where exercise was once part of an unhealthy routine.

Why Embrace the Flow is for You

This workshop is for anyone ready to rethink their relationship with movement and experience exercise in a new, compassionate way. Whether you’re navigating body image issues, in recovery from an eating disorder, or simply looking for a way to reconnect with your body, Embrace the Flow will give you the tools to start moving with love, kindness, and excitement.

We’ll guide you through mindful and physical practices that honour where you are in your journey without any pressure to achieve a certain fitness level. Most importantly, we’ll help you find the joy in movement again.
